![]() Welcome to Resurrection Christian Center's Building Fund update page. The building that today is known as Resurrection Christian Center and Church began it's existence in December 1892 as one of the Biograph Motion Picture Studios of Thomas Alva Edison. Yes, the inventor of the Light Bulb. This location is the origin of the motion picture industry in America. The studio was built at a total cost sum of $637.67 (the equivelant of $16,043.43USD today) and was occupied by the Biograph studios until the year 1912 after which the building was vacated and remained unoccupied for several years. NY Fabrics Inc., a cloth fabric manufacturing company which specialized in woven fabrics for making bed sheets, men's & boys dress shirts and dresses for women & children occupied the building from 1915 until 1950. In 1959, the newly formed Cardinal Spellman High School established temporary quarters in the Marmion Avenue building while it's permanent facilty located on Baychester Avenue in the Northeast section of the Bronx was being constructed. In 1962, Cardinal Francis Spellman High School moved out of the Marmion Avenue location, no longer needing the confined quarters of the space for they had grown exponentially in student population and their new facility was now ready to accept it's occupants. In the years following the school's vacancy of the Marmion Avenue site, several businesses, and churches have occupied 1833 Marmion Avenue. In 1999, God deposited a vision and burden in the heart of Pastor Luis Cardona, Sr. Pastor of the Resurrection Christian Center minsitry that the church was about to take a leap of faith and step out of the small quarters located at 915-A Prospect Avenue in the heart of the former Fort Apache Bronx, NY area. 1833 Marmion Avenue was the site that was ordained by God to become home to the now current Resurrection Christian Center and Church facility. With God on his side and the support of a congregation that would not rest until they saw the promises of God succeed, Pastor Luis Cardona approached the then land-lord of the building and "made him an offer he couldn't refuse". Long story short; the Lord permitted us to purchase 1833 Marmion Avenue in the year 2000. The congregation was finally able to move into their new quarters after months of construction, upgrades and renovations were completed. Fast forward to 2013, and many miracles past, we are now entering an era of need. The building that is R.C.C. today is 120 years and 8 months old and in dire need a of a facelift. God has moved in tremendous ways touching the lives of the lost, healing the sick and performing miracles in the lives of the believers that have passed through these doors. It is now that we must continue to push the work that God has burdened in our hearts and bring the building of Resurrection Christian Center into the 21st century. Not only is an update to our beloved church needed, but the vision as given to Pastors Luis and Erma Cardona were not only confined to just the building we occupy today. The vision includes obtaining the land right next to our church which is currently used as a parking lot. The vision includes a new church facility, school and gym where community youth can participate in recreational activities while receiving the thirst quenching word of God. The vision is to build Resurrection Christian Center into a centeralized community and international point of salvation, inspiration and spiritual guidance for the lost and christian alike. Our vision is to build a top notch educational facility where children will receive not only the required educational curriculum, but also solid spiritual foundational teachings. This page is dedicated to the many men, women and families of God that have helped build and nourish the ministry of Resurrection Christian Center over the past 27+ years. It is because of their faithful prayer and giving as God has moved in their hearts that our precious church has been able to move forward in the presence of the Lord to this day. We encourage you to regularly check back here for the latest updates on our progress to move God's work forward. To those that have locked shields and moved along with our ministry and have walked many miles with us, we extend a heartfelt thank you and look forward to our continued camraderie and fellowship in the presence of our Lord Jesus. To those who are just joining us on our journey, we humbly welcome you aboard this work that has spanned over 27 years and will continue to bring the good news story of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior to the many lost souls within our community and beyond. May God bless you abundantly. |
